WHAT EXACTLY ARE SPECIALTY COFFEES?

Golden Bean coffees sit right at the top of the Coffee Ratings Pyramid. This pyramid is a widely used tool in the coffee industry to differentiate and categorize the various types of beans available on the market. At the base of this pyramid, you’ll find the traditional coffee, or most known as "Below Grade", which is the most common and accessible category, made up of beans that meet the minimum quality standards. Above that, is the Exchange Grade, which boasts a slightly higher quality level, often selected with more care.

A notch higher is the Premium Grade, which stands out for its refined flavour and aroma characteristics, often coming from specific growing regions.

At the very peak of the pyramid, you’ve got the Specialty Coffee, reserved for beans of the highest quality, produced under ideal conditions and subjected to a rigorous selection process.
